Comprehensive Exam

All first-time patients will undergo a comprehensive exam. Your dentist will listen to your chief complaints, concerns and expectations. The dentist or hygienist will clean your teeth and check for cavities and gum disease. He or she will also evaluate your risk of developing other oral health problems, as well as check your face, neck and mouth for abnormalities. A dental exam will also likely include dental X-rays.

X-rays are a means of diagnosing problems that can otherwise go unnoticed. Tooth decay, abscesses, impacted teeth, or jawbone damage will all be visible on an x-ray.

Treatment Plan

After your dental exam, the dentist or hygienist will discuss your oral health, including your risk of tooth decay, gum disease and any other oral health problems, and preventive measures you can take to improve and protect your oral health.
